Our Father is always at work doing what He does best. One of the ways He does this is through us!
This winter I started an indoor herb garden. I knew very little and upon research, everyone suggested to start with basil. A key element to growing an indoor garden from store bought plants is to propagate - or to multiply.
One way to propagate a basil plant is by cutting toward the end of the stems and then place them in water so roots will start to grow from each individual stem. I will then be able to re-pot the individual plants, and from that point I’ll have a full indoor garden filled with basil!
Where am I going with this?
A word God revealed to me in this process is foundation.
When I look at how plant propagation works, it uses something in its own biology - the seeds, the stem, the bulbs, the flowers, or more to fulfill its purpose and multiply. When Our Creator calls us to a new situation, new friendship, or new environment - you name it, I guarantee you it does not go in vain! As we walk with Jesus, we are building a stronger foundation in Him through trust and unity.
Are you in a season right now where you need to be still, listen, and allow Him to take root in your heart, mind, and soul? Or does it go deeper to where you need to cut off dead roots such as sin, bad habits, and negativity first? God cannot be in the center if we are already engulfed and twisted up in dead roots!
New Ground
Once roots are established in my basil plant, the next step is to re-pot it in new soil so it can continue to grow.
I challenge you to consider these questions :
Who are you called to be in your home as a wife and mom?
What new environments is God placing you in right now?
What new situations is God having you be a part of?
Who have you been introduced to lately so you may shed a light in their lives?
Colossians 2:6-7
"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."
Our Father is always at work doing what He does best. One of the ways He does this is through us. Wherever you are, He yearns to take root and permeate your heart so in return you can show the fullness and goodness of His love to everyone around you!
